This is a poster I did a few years back for a showing of Halloween at a local theater. I wanted to play with light and shadow like Carpenter did in the movie. The scene where Michael is in the dark and gradually appears was the inspiration for this. When someone walked by the poster the idea was that they wouldn’t necessarily see the face right away. It would come into focus as they looked at it.
I’m not sure how effective this was. The farther away from the poster you were, the more immediately you would see the face. Of course the other issue was how readily we see faces in things.
The poster really needed to be as large as possible. The bigger the more effective. However, it’s still one I like.
